Objective: To bring clarity to the world of real estate investing through education, mentorship, and shared opportunities.
E3 Development, LLC was born out of the frustration of being in the world of construction. As a General Contractor/Builder for 29 years from junior estimator/project manager to CEO/President of several companies all related to construction I realized that I was on the wrong side of the money fence.
My career started as a college grad with a Construction Management degree and like every college newbie, an excitement for life while simultaneously pure fear of the unknown. My journey from the corporate world to entrepreneur has been a giant roller coaster ride with great financial seasons and horrific business deals that left me bankrupt. Like many other entrepreneurs and fighters, you pick yourself up, dust yourself off, wipe the tears, face your fears and put one step forward towards your goal(s).
I have, to my determent and great advantage, been one of those people that weren’t afraid to fight for my dreams and in the process were willing to learn anything and everything along the way. The detriment was exchanging time for money when others who are experts would have and could have done a much better job. For example, four years of being a Pro Se litigator. At the time I didn't have the money to hire a corporate attorney on several multi-million dollar lawsuits (one was a Goliath Bank).
I learned how our justice system works and the inner workings of the lion dens where fast talking street wise legal gurus know how the game is really played. I saw 1st hand our great system and all of its political, money and narcissistic glory. I can only imagine this goes on every where since it’s our “system” is in place. My advantage, I learned law from the back alley door, not popular with the judges since I wasn’t properly initiated or indoctrinate into the fraternity, four year brick and mortar building of higher learning and therefore didn’t have the right to “practice law”, when in fact I wanted to protect myself and my companies. Side note: yes we can be pro se its our right and no I wasn't practicing law and soliciting others to make money, but it's a great counter legal move with no teeth.
*NOTE: I AM NOT CONDEMNING THE LEGAL SYSTEM OR THE LEGAL PROFESSION. THERE ARE A GREAT MANY WONDERFUL INDIVIDUALS LEGAL PROFESSIONALS OUT THERE (THAT’S WHAT THEY SAY ABOUT CONTRACTORS…I KNOW) LIKE IT OR NO, THEY ARE NECESSARY FOR FURTHERING OUR PROFESSIONS/BUSINESSES OUR INVESTMENTS. IT'S ALWAYS ABOUT FINDING THE GOOD ONES! (THAT’S WHAT THEY SAY ABOUT CONTRACTORS…I KNOW).
Then the IRS and tax laws, Insurance/law, Accounting, Marketing, Social Media, Customer Service, etc. All different fields of study but all necessary to understand how to run a business. Here is my point…Real Estate Investing and most other businesses require a lot of knowledge in many broad professional areas (i.e. legal, taxation, asset protection, financial strategies, development, construction, property management, accounting, maintenance, etc.) Ultimately, the brave souls (those who like pain) like myself can trudge through the years of learning chasing rabbits or we can utilize the resources around us to improve, achieve and return the favor to others entering the world of real estate investing.
My goal and purpose in switching from General Contractor to Developer/Investor is to provide long term passive income for my family. To build something with a growing value and have the time to enjoy life sharing with others. Let’s face it life is fast and we are mere vapors in short segment of this vast universe. What we build today is what we leave behind tomorrow. What a blessing to leave our families in a strong financial position and teaching them the value of hard work and sharing with others. Isn’t that what success should be? I love how Earl Nightingale summarizes success: “Success is a progressive realization of a worthy ideal” Always striving to improve equals success. Let’s succeed together!
My plan is to bring clarity and understanding to this industry by providing a team of experts that can help from A to Z, start to finish. I will expand on this on my next posting.
